The Council is carrying out essential Plane and Patch works on Aylesbury Road in Wendover, originally scheduled for completion by the morning of Saturday, 12th October. However, due to adverse weather conditions, the works have been delayed. The new completion date is now Sunday, 13th October, at 6am.
These works coincide with the closure of the Wendover Road By-Pass by HS2. While we understand the overlap is inconvenient, it is necessary to proceed with the Council's works as leaving them incomplete would pose a safety risk.
HS2 Wendover Road By-Pass Closure

Duration: 8:30am Saturday, 12th October to 5:30am Monday, 14th October
HS2 Ltd has planned a 24-hour closure of the Wendover Road By-Pass between Nash Lee Road roundabout and Wendover Road roundabout. The Council has requested HS2 reschedule these works, but they cannot be delayed due to other planned works within the network.
Collaborative Efforts to Minimise Impact
To reduce the inconvenience to residents, the Council has worked to align the official signed diversion routes for both closures. However, we understand that some drivers may seek alternative routes. We appreciate your patience during this period of overlap.
Additionally, the Council will carry out safety barrier repairs on the Wendover By-Pass (permit reference D400788368544-02) during HS2’s closure. After the weekend, these repairs will continue under temporary signals between 8pm and 6am, expected to be completed by 24th October.
