On Monday 13 September, MPs will debate a petition relating to the High Speed 2 (HS2) railway line.
The debate will be led by Petitions Committee member Taiwo Owatemi MP, and MPs from all parties can take part. The Government will send a minister to respond.
Stop work on HS2 immediately and hold a new vote to repeal the legislation
The petition , which has more than 155,000 signatures, states: "We ask Parliament to repeal the High Speed Rail Bills, 2016 and 2019, as MPs voted on misleading environmental, financial and timetable information provided by the Dept of Transport and HS2 Ltd. It fails to address the conditions of the Paris Accord and costs have risen from £56bn to over £100bn."
In its response to the petition, the Government said: "HS2 will provide essential North-South connectivity, greater capacity and shorter journey times. This railway will play a vital role in delivering the Government's carbon net zero objectives."
